Important Notes
Students can submit quizzes via the Canvas mobile app; however, certain question types can't be viewed in the app and students will be redirected to login to the mobile web browser on the device. Additionally, quizzes that are setup to display one question at a time cannot be done in the mobile app. Please review the tutorials below for steps on how to submit quizzes in the Canvas mobile app.

Please note instructors have two different options for creating quizzes. Some of your quizzes may be in the new quiz tool. Please review the guide below for details about the new quiz tool.
Quiz Tips
- Some instructors may require some exams to be proctored. These exams are password protected and must be taken in the proctoring lab. Review what is required with proctored exams in your course.
- If you start a quiz that has a due date, but do not finish the quiz by the due date (as indicated in your local time zone), Canvas will automatically submit the quiz on the due date.
- Quiz details do not show the due date in relation to the current time. For example, if a quiz has a due date of 11:59 pm and you begin the quiz at 11:30 pm, you will only have 30 minutes to complete the quiz before it is marked late. The same time restriction applies if you are taking a timed quiz. For example, if the Time Limit was set to 60 minutes but you begin the quiz at 11:30 pm, you still only have 30 minutes to complete the quiz before it is marked late. Canvas will notify you regarding any time restrictions when you begin the quiz.
- When quizzes are timed you can hide/show the timer on the right sidebar. When you get to the one minute mark in a quiz Canvas will warn that time is almost up. When time is up the quiz will be automatically submitted.
- Some quizzes may be setup where you can only view one question at a time. Sometimes you can revisit past questions and sometimes you cannot. If a quiz is setup so you cannot revisit a question, when you click Take the quiz a small warning dialog box will appear stating that you cannot view the previous question. Click Begin to start the quiz. Note: Quizzes setup as one question at time cannot be taken the Canvas Student app. Use desktop browser to complete the quiz.
- If there is a technical problem while you are taking a quiz, try access the quiz again as soon as possible. You should be able to finish where you left off if you have time remaining in the quiz. Contact your instructor and the Information Systems & Services helpdesk if you have problems taking a quiz.
