[1st] Personal Fitness [Weaver]
Students will learn to identify the benefits of fitness for life long health. Personal
fitness assessment and improvement will be stressed.
Students will workout at home, in their neighborhood or a local gym. Aerobic
activities such as walking and jogging will be included. In
addition fitness activities involving jump ropes,
plyometrics and dumbbells and barbells will be incorporated.
Students will demonstrate competency in a variety of
motor skills and movement patterns. The physically
literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and
skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level
of physical activity and fitness. The student exhibits
responsible personal and social behavior that respects
self and others. The individual recognizes the value of
physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self expression and/or social interaction.
