What is the Delayed Announcement Modifier

The Delayed Announcement Modifier is part of the Design Tools multi tool and allows instructors to bulk delete announcements or modify the delayed date for all announcements on one page. The multi Tool must be enabled in the course menu. View the following guides for more details about announcements and the multi tool. 

Using the Delayed Announcement Modifier

All the course announcements will be listed on the page and this will allow you to make adjustments to the delay date. You can also bulk delete announcements as well. Click the Multi-Tool in the course menu. Select Delayed Announcement Modifier. Review the numbered item below.

  1. Set Blackout Dates - This option will allow to mark certain dates where you can't set delay dates. For example, you may want to enter the dates for Thanksgiving break. 
  2. Set Default Times - This option will allow you to enter the desired time on the delay date when announcements will be posted for students. For example, if you know that you want all announcements posted at 8:00 am on the desired delay date, you can set the default time here so you don't have to set for each announcement. 
  3. Bulk Updates - This option will allow you to make updates to selected announcements. Place a check mark next to each announcement you wish to include in the bulk update. 
  4. Announcement Data - You can change the delay dates for all announcements on one page. 
    1. Search - Use the search feature to quickly locate an announcement. 
    2. Delayed Post Date - Select the date and time the announcement should start to display in the course. 
    3. Actions - Click Update as you change the dates. You can also view, edit, or delete announcements using the action buttons. Please note the view and edit options will open the announcement in a new browser tab.
