How the Calendar Works in Canvas

To view your calendar click Calendar in the global menu. The Calendar in Canvas makes it easy for instructors and students to keep track of upcoming assignments. All of your courses assignments and events will display on one calendar which makes it easy for you to view and update the calendar. Instructors can also setup scheduler appointments that students can sign up for on the calendar. Review the tabbed menu below for more tutorials.

Important Notes

If you plan to use the scheduler for allowing students to sign-up for appointments, be sure to review the Student Calendar tutorial

All graded assignments with due dates will display in the course calendar and students' To Do lists. Instructors can assign a date to Canvas pages and ungraded discussions. See How to Add Content to Student List View page for details.

Assignments  and events dates can be updated by dragging the assignment or event to a new date in the calendar. Please note with assignments this only updates the due date and does NOT update the Available From and Until dates.  Use the Design Tools multi-tool assignment due date modifier to adjust the due date and availability dates.

If you copy content from another course, please be aware the calendar events from that course will also copy over. Be sure to remove any calendar events that are not needed for the new course. You can see a list of events in the course from the syllabus page. See the Adding Your Syllabus page for details.
