Using Collaborations as a Instructor
What are Canvas Collaborations?
Canvas is integrated with Google Drive so instructors and students can create a collaborative space directly in Canvas using a GoogleDoc. The collaborative space allows instructors and students to work together writing a document online. For example, all students can write a story together online or the instructor can setup private journals for each student. View the tabbed menu below to learn more.

Important Notes
To create and use Collaborations in Canvas all users of the collaboration must have a Google Drive account. You can create a free account at www.google.com Links to an external site.. In your Canvas profile you must register your Google account so you can create collaborations in Canvas.
Please note all collaborators that you invite to a Canvas Collaboration must also have a Google account that is registered on their Canvas profile.
When the collaboration is created in Canvas, the new document is stored in the Google Drive account of the creator of the collaboration and shared with all people added to the Collaboration in Canvas. All changes made to the document are automatically saved and the document is stored permanently in the Google Drive account of the owner of the collaboration.
