Checking Header Order
Edit a page to check the accessibility of the content. (1) Headings on your content page should display in the correct order. You can mark headings in the rich content editor. (2) Launch Design Tools and select Check Accessibility. Items that display headers out of order will display with warning eye icon sign in Design Tools. Click Heading Outline. (3) In the example below you can either promote the top link as heading 2 or demote heading 2 link further down the page. Be sure to save your work when you are done.
Checking Image Alt Text
When you upload images using Canvas you will be required to add alternative text. If you uploaded images before January 6, 2018 releaseLinks to an external site., you may have images with no alternative text or the alternative text that is not descriptive enough. (1) Edit a page and select Check Accessibility. Images that do not have alternative text will display with warning eye icon sign in Design Tools. Select Image Check. (2) If the image is necessary to understand the context of the content on the page, be sure to give the image a descriptive alternative text. Images that are add for visually enhancement and have no meaning in context with content on the page can be marked as decorative.
Checking Links
Link text should be descriptive. (1) In the links you create you will want to avoid using vague language to describe your links. (2) Edit a page and select Check Accessibility. Links that are not descriptive enough will display with warning eye icon sign in Design Tools. Select Link Check. (3) Click the pencil icon to edit the link to a more descriptive text.
