Viewing Student Analytics
How to View Analytics
The new analytics feature was enabled on December 16, 2019 and this option will allow students to view the analytics on their participation in courses that use Canvas. In the course navigation click New Analytics. If you don't see new analytics in the course menu, click New Analytics on the course home page. View the tabbed menu below to learn more about what students can expect to see in new analytics.
Analytics Options
Students can see three different areas of the analytics. These include the following:
- Course grade - The Course Grade graph shows your submission status and grade for all the assignments in the course.
- Weekly Online Activity - Data is displayed as a chart with two rows: average page views and average participations. Click a data point to display more information about the data point.
- Communication - The Communication graph shows the number of conversations that have taken place between you and your instructor(s) in the Canvas Inbox.
See Canvas guide below for more information about analytics.
Important Notes
Please note the following:
- The new analytics has become permanent feature of Canvas courses starting with spring 2020 courses.
- Students can view user analytics from the course menu or home page. Please note some instructors may disable the new analytics feature in the course menu.
- Data is refreshed in New Analytics every 24 hours. Please confirm the time data was last updated in the course, as content may be outdated compared to recent activity and submissions.
