Classwork 15% |
Includes in class assignments, group work, warm-ups, and homework. Each class will start with a warm-up on the whiteboard/notebook. We will have daily assignments that are due at the end of the period and will be kept in your notebook. Homework will also be given daily and will be expected to be completed by the next class. This will be an average score given every two weeks. Work will be graded as a 10 (completed), 5 (halfway completed), 0 (did nothing). |
THERE IS NO LATE WORK ALLOWED! |
|
Learning Target Quizzes 30% |
Each unit has approximately one to two quizzes. These are closed notes and students are expected to study for them. After the first quiz of the unit students may retake the quiz on the second quiz of the unit. They can then retake both quizzes on the unit test. Quizzes are graded as either right or wrong and we use the scale of 10 (A), 8.5 (B), 7.5 (C), and 5 or lower as needs improvement. |
NO QUIZ RETAKES EXCEPT IN CLASS |
|
End of Unit Test 50% |
At the end of every unit we will have a test. Students are allowed to use one sheet of notes that the teacher will provide. Tests are approximately three pages in which the first page is similar to the first quiz, the second page is similar to the second quiz, and the last page is from the whole unit. The tests are graded on points with the quizzes being a separate grade. Students may retake the test if they have lower than a 75%. The retake and the original test will be averaged together. A formal review will be given for each unit test. |
What else do I need to know about this class?
Make-up Assignments: Attendance is required. Absences will be recognized and excused for the following reasons: to participate in official school activities, for family or personal emergencies, and for medical reasons. Work is available on the website.
Students returning from excused absences should have the homework upon returning to class because it is available online. If you are unable to find the assignment email me and I will give you the assignment and the notes.
Missed a test/learning target quiz? You may take a learning target quiz if you were absent during flex time or on the next quiz/test. If you were absent the review day you will still take the test the next day. If you miss a test you must take it within the three-week window. It is a zero until you take it.

Notebook Checks 5% |
Throughout the unit I will do periodic notebook checks where I am making sure the student is taking notes. This is meant to help students be successful and is a way for me to see what they are missing. |
End of Chapter Projects 60% |
At the end of every chapter we will have an end of unit project as a way to summarize what we have done during the whole unit. This will be done in class as long as the student is using their time wisely. |
